As, the nature of these advertisements is different, both the programs can be used on any site simultaneously. However, other similar programs cannot be used, for e.g. Adbrite Contextual Ads cannot be used with Adsense advertisements. Similarly, IntelliTXT ads are not allowed with Kotera advertisements. The sole reason for this being, that they are competitors, and no one likes competition, even, if the company is Google!

Now, which advertising network pays more to the publisher depends on the website, the nature of traffic etc. However, a general perception is that Google Adsense is the winner for most publishers.
